Hello all, Shirley Strumpet here.
The thing is, my own name seems to have been STOLEN by someone else so I' going by the name of the character I played in a company party. Namely, one Shirley Strumpet. 'so what' I hear you cry, it's only a name. Well, the thing is, Shirley is a bird, and I'm not. Anyway, I enjoyed wearing heels and a dress for the night and can't see what the fuss is about. Day to day I spend my time as a graphic designer, which may explain a certain affinity with my female side. It's true that creative people are not normal. We don't have any ability to organise, manage, remember numbers or otherwise fit into society. Oh, by the way, 'organise' does not have a 'z' in it. That's a zed, not a zee.
So, intro aside, today needs quantifying. I spent the morning glueing shoddy drawers together and applying body filler to the monsterous giant scooter that I'm building in my workshop. I hope to start painting it soon, a lovely shade of metallic green topped off by some cool pinstriping. Then, I hope to ride it to work, really.
After all the above, I saddled my horse and rode over to my place of work for a Saturday practise session with the band I'm in. 1950's rock and roll was played for four hours and I sang some new songs, really reaching for the high notes! Most of what I sing is down there with the devil but I think I managed some alto today! If you sing for 'God' look away now. We have a gig (our second) coming up in a few weeks and the practise is really needed. The best thing is that we are really getting it together now and can perform well. So, if you want a 50's rock and roll band, let me know and we can work out if we're right for your gig! At least, if you're in Kent, we don't travel well at our age.
More to come!
